Keep Your Children Safe And Sound from the Hand of Omicron Variant

Fear of Coronavirus when is decreasing, a new Corona variant Omicron has popped up. Experts are tracking the spread of the Omicron variant, but, there are still many uncertainties. Doctors are uncertain whether it is more transmissible than the previous COVID 19 strains or it affects children more severely. Omicron strain has become the latest concern of the World Health Organization. A visiting doctor at a preschool in Rolling Hills CA says that though we do not know much about this strain, the preliminary evidence suggests that it could be more transmissible than previous strains of the coronavirus.

Omicron was initially detected in Southern Africa in November 2021 and has been spread in at least 20 countries. It has been also traced in America officially on December 1 according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC ). The California-based patient recently returned from a trip to South Africa and showing mild symptoms of this latest variant. Already a handful of cases have been reported in the United States. This Omicron variant will inevitably start circulating across the country soon.

A recent South Africa-based data shows a high number of hospital admissions of infants under 2 years old hand already raised concern among parents though scientists cannot yet confirm a link between Omicron and high admission of infants.

But, experts say that there is no reason to panic because already all adult has been vaccinated and children from 5-12 years of age are being vaccinated in the US. Yet doctors, preschool caregivers, Montessori caregivers, paediatricians – all are facing almost the same question from anxious parents and the common question is “do children are more prone to Omicron variant?”. The reason behind this concern is that most of the patients that have been infected so far by the omicron variant are younger people.

The symptoms of the Omicron variant are the same as that of other Corona variants. But the patients are reporting no loss of smell or taste which is one of the most common symptoms of common Coronavirus infection. Other classic symptoms remain the same. But doctors in a clinic in Rolling Hills CA are reassuring parents by saying that this variant may be more infectious, but by nature, it is very mild as it has been seen so far. Parents are advised to continue the sanitary safety measure that they are doing for the last two years – like wearing the mask, sanitizing hands, maintaining physical distancing, etc. Parents are advised to encourage their children to frequent hand washing, wear the mask in the crowd, avoiding the presence of sick people. The doctors say the best-known measure from the hand of Omicron and other variants of Coronavirus is getting vaccinated if he or she is eligible. Children above five years are eligible for the vaccine and eighteen years and above are eligible for a booster dose in the United States of America.

Parents are advised to just follow Covid-19 protocols, stay vigilant but stay calm about their children’s health. This will help to keep children safe and sound.
